Rebecca Mabanglo-Mayor is a Filipino American writer, storyteller, and creativity coach. She received her MFA in Creative Writing in 2012 and she shares Filipino folktales and Filipino-American personal stories in performance to encourage others to celebrate their unique heritage and experience. Her courses and workshops reflect a concern with the ways in which writers and performers reveal and reflect cultural conflicts and transformation.
Her non-fiction, poetry, and short fiction have appeared in print and online in several journals and anthologies Growing Up Filipino II: More Stories for Young Adults, Kuwento: Small Things, and Beyond Lumpia, Pansit, and Seven Manangs Wild: An Anthology. Recently she served as guest poetry editor for the special section Celebration for Raven Chronicles. Her poetry chapbook Pause Mid-Flight was released in 2010 and her memoir of identity and motherhood titled Long Way ‘Round is in development. She has been performing as a storyteller with the Bellingham Storyteller’s Guild since 2006
